Independent Education · Official Sources · Last Verified October 25, 2026

A higher-level review decision has these ordinary calendar checkpoints. They are not interchangeable with deadlines for other notices. Use the actual dated notice and the filing instructions for the issue.

Worked Example: Notice Dated January 15, 2026
RouteBase DateCalendar DateMeaning
Supplemental Claim: Continuous Pursuit2027-01-152027-01-15A Supplemental Claim can generally be filed later. The one-year window matters for continuous pursuit and the potential effective date. A timely, applicable intent to file followed by a qualifying completed Supplemental Claim can preserve continuous pursuit; this calculator does not evaluate that history.
Board Appeal2027-01-152027-01-15Ordinary modernized review window. Simultaneously contested claims have a different, usually 60-day, Board deadline.

Confirm the deadline printed in your notice. If they differ, your notice controls.

This calendar covers ordinary modernized compensation notices. It does not resolve contested claims, legacy appeals, extensions, reconsideration, tolling or exceptional office and Court closures. Ask an accredited representative promptly about any discrepancy.

What This Notice Does Not Do

The Higher-Level Review lane cannot be used again to challenge the same HLR decision. A Supplemental Claim or Board Appeal may be the next review route. A duty-to-assist return can also lead to additional development and a later decision; identify the actual notice being reviewed.
