WHY RATINGS DON’T JUST ADD UP

Each Rating Applies To What Remains.

VA combines ratings from highest to lowest. Each additional rating applies to the portion that is still considered efficient, then the final combined value is rounded to the nearest 10.

  1. 1
    50% Individual Rating

Start with 50% disabled and 50% remaining.

  2. 2
    30% Individual Rating

    50% combined + 30% of the remaining 50% = 65% (rounded to a whole number).

For example, 50% and 30% combine to 65%, which rounds to 70%.
